McDonald's is planning to release its biggest burger ever.
The global fast food chain has "created a larger satiating burger" as it "look[s] to further build on our leadership in beef," CFO Ian Borden said on Tuesday (April 30) via FOX Business.
"We’ll be testing this burger in a few markets later this year, ensuring that it has universal appeal before scaling it across the globe," Borden added.
McDonald's had previously claimed that sales of its chicken products caught up to its beef products in annual systemwide sales, with both estimating at around $25 billion. The company had previously teased plans for larger burgers earlier this year.
"We’re addressing an unmet customer need across markets for larger high-quality burgers," said CEO Chris Kempczinski in February via FOX Business. "We’re working horizontally across the system to innovate. As we test and learn, we’ll be working to understand how the new offering will complement our already established burgers, like the Double QPC [Quarter Pounder with Cheese] or the Big Tasty."
McDonald's also previously offered the Double Big Mac, which included four beef patties, rather than the standard two, for a "limited time" in January. In December, the company announced plans for a major overhaul to its burgers as part of what it called its "best burgers ever," putting a focus on correcting dry patties and squishy buns.
